Term: | Penses Aux Suites | |
Hi, just wondering if anyone can help with me a translation. I have an antique seal (wax seal used to seal letters), the base is carved with the phrase 'Pensez aux suites" I have been told his means 'think of those that follow' or something similar. I have also found some reference to the fact this phrase may have been used on posters in war time to warn soldiers of the risks of engaging with prostitutes when they are away and means 'think of the consequences ' Anyone aware of his phrase being used in that context ? Also the piece I have pre-dates the war referenced in the material I found. Any help much appreciated ! |
Answer: | It's a seal for letters, isn't it? | #903429 |
I think that is a kind of warning that the content is confidential and an illegal breaking of the seal may have consequences. |

Yes it is a seal for letters - that makes sense - thank you |
